Just another Idea that has nothing to do with our first ideas.. but maybe could be a source of some cash flow.. But I was thinking of doing an Aggie app for usu students, the app could include the active buss map that shows the locations of the aggie shuttles. Also i have heard some feed back from many students that the way that student voting takes place online is bogus.. So we could have a place for students to vote on their iphones or blackberrys.

I think both of those would work out great. A couple things to think about, would we charge for the app? Would ASUSU be willing to purchase the rights to the app once we complete it? I know a lot of people carry iPhones and iTouch's how much of that market would actually pay for the bus map?
ReplyDeleteI thought about that.. First off the buss map will be a live map that shows the actual location of the busses.. if you havent seen the web page with this heres the link http://aggiebus.com/. Also I think that we could make it a free app and place advertising on it.. Or even if we made it $ .99 it would sell if we make a big deal about it through marketing. As far as asusu I think that there is potential there for selling the rights. I need to talk to some more people...
ReplyDeleteI forgot about advertising. I think if we offer it as a free app and offer local businesses the space, that could work out well for us.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea. If we could work with ASUSU on it then I think that's a real possibility. Jeremy, your idea made me wonder whether or not the Cache Valley bus system does a similar thing? What about other big cities? Once you build the first app it could be pretty easy to do the same thing but on a bigger scale. I like the idea of selling advertising space too.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that. That would be a good thing for Logan.
ReplyDeletelogan would be the perfect place to try an app like this. and i think it has tons of potential to be a profitable business. TONS of cities could use this, sounds very profitable.
ReplyDeleteHere's a question- What is stopping people from pulling up the aggiebus website on their iphone/itouch/blackberries? Is it too difficult to pull up on a phone? Just curious what you guys think
ReplyDeleteIt's too small. It takes some work to get to the site. At least that is me personally. With an app, it is literally a few taps away and you have the full bus picture.
