off the topic

Just another Idea that has nothing to do with our first ideas.. but maybe could be a source of some cash flow.. But I was thinking of doing an Aggie app for usu students, the app could include the active buss map that shows the locations of the aggie shuttles. Also i have heard some feed back from many students that the way that student voting takes place online is bogus.. So we could have a place for students to vote on their iphones or blackberrys.

  1. I think both of those would work out great. A couple things to think about, would we charge for the app? Would ASUSU be willing to purchase the rights to the app once we complete it? I know a lot of people carry iPhones and iTouch's how much of that market would actually pay for the bus map?

  2. I thought about that.. First off the buss map will be a live map that shows the actual location of the busses.. if you havent seen the web page with this heres the link http://aggiebus.com/. Also I think that we could make it a free app and place advertising on it.. Or even if we made it $ .99 it would sell if we make a big deal about it through marketing. As far as asusu I think that there is potential there for selling the rights. I need to talk to some more people...

  3. I forgot about advertising. I think if we offer it as a free app and offer local businesses the space, that could work out well for us.

  4. I like the idea. If we could work with ASUSU on it then I think that's a real possibility. Jeremy, your idea made me wonder whether or not the Cache Valley bus system does a similar thing? What about other big cities? Once you build the first app it could be pretty easy to do the same thing but on a bigger scale. I like the idea of selling advertising space too.

  5. I never thought of that. That would be a good thing for Logan.

  6. logan would be the perfect place to try an app like this. and i think it has tons of potential to be a profitable business. TONS of cities could use this, sounds very profitable.

  7. Here's a question- What is stopping people from pulling up the aggiebus website on their iphone/itouch/blackberries? Is it too difficult to pull up on a phone? Just curious what you guys think

  8. It's too small. It takes some work to get to the site. At least that is me personally. With an app, it is literally a few taps away and you have the full bus picture.
